Roger Dean's logo designs have become sought after collectors' items now found in public and private collections throughout the world.
For the Asia logo, Dean was requested to create a form that was intrinsically different from the soft swirling shapes of the well known Yes logos. The hard edged pyramid shape is contrasted with the decorative patterns found in nature.
The eyes did not appear until the second Asia album 'Alpha' and were based on an idea contained in photos of Nepalese Stupas photographed by Martyn Dean. Readers of Rolling Stone Magazine voted the Asia album cover as one of the most popular designs of all time.
